Learning

Our Curriculum Vision

In our schools, our primary focus is for all children to have an understanding of the world: people, places and environments and how they are changing over time.

We know that it is vital for our children to have a curiosity and fascination of the world, past and present, which will stay with them throughout their lives.

It has never been more important for children to have a comprehensive global understanding of our world and the peoples and cultures that inhabit it.  We will look to develop this so that children have respect for the physical world and the vast scope of cultures that make up our diverse planet.

Our curriculum will inspire all learners.  It will capture the interests of each pupil, providing exciting and enriching learning experiences which encourage children to be independent learners, to ask and answer questions and to learn about the world around them.  Children will move through school learning about a variety of topics which are tailored to meet their individual needs and harness their love of learning.

As we teach in mixed-year classes, our  topics will encompass the needs of all children at an age appropriate level, ensuring that  they have the opportunity to access the full content of the 2014 curriculum during their time with us.

Cross-curricular writing is the foundation of all our learning. We strive to link Literacy sessions to our topics wherever possible, providing children with opportunities to explore their learning and deepen their understanding through their writing. We also strive to provide children with the opportunity to produce high quality writing in all of their lessons, enabling them to transfer skills, such as spelling, grammar and handwriting, which they have been taught.
